Low-Pressure Exterior Cleaning Christchurch — By Arrangement

One of my favourite Google reviews says “No mess and no waterblasting” — and that philosophy runs through everything I do, including the occasional low-pressure exterior clean, which I take on by arrangement alongside my regular gutter cleaning work.

To be clear about scope: this isn’t a full house-washing operation I run week to week. It’s an add-on I offer when the house suits and I’m already on the property. Ring me and you’ll get an honest yes, no, or “here’s who you should call instead”.

Why low pressure?

Not every exterior surface enjoys being blasted. Older weatherboards, tired paint, mortar joints, window seals and weep holes can all come off second-best when someone attacks a house with maximum pressure and minimum thought.

The low-pressure approach uses appropriate pressure, the right detergents and a bit of patience to lift grime without forcing water where it doesn’t belong — behind cladding, into joints, through seals. Slower, gentler, and far less likely to create a leak you discover months later.

It pairs naturally with gutter work: gutters overflow down walls, walls grow green stuff, and dealing with both in one visit makes sense.

What I might take on by arrangement

  • Weatherboard and cladding washes where a gentle touch matters more than brute force
  • External walls above and around gutter lines where overflow has left streaks and staining
  • Smaller exterior jobs where the customer already books me for gutters and wants the place finished properly

If a job genuinely needs serious waterblasting gear — big concrete areas, driveways, two-storey commercial cladding — I’ll say so and point you towards someone kitted out for it. Knowing the edge of your remit is part of being honest.

What stays the same

Whoever the job is for, the rules don’t change:

  • Fixed quote first. The price I quote is the price you pay — no travel charges, no GST surprise, no surcharges after the fact.
  • No mess left behind. Plants, decks and paths treated with the same care customers mention in reviews — including the one who noted I “managed not to damage anything in my garden - quite a feat!”
  • An honest condition report. If I spot cracked boards, failed seals or paint on its last legs while I’m cleaning, you’ll hear about it — along with whether it’s urgent.

Frequently asked questions

Is this the same as house washing? It overlaps — but I frame it as low-pressure exterior cleaning because that’s the honest description of what I offer: gentle washes by arrangement, not a weekly house-washing round.

Why “by arrangement”? Because it’s not my core trade and I won’t pretend otherwise. I take on jobs that suit my gear and schedule, and I decline the ones that don’t. You get my real answer either way.

Can you remove the green mould off my walls? Light growth and grime, generally yes, with the right treatment and a gentle approach. Heavy, long-established growth on large elevations may need a dedicated house-washing outfit — I’ll tell you which situation you’re in before quoting.

Do you clean gutters at the same time? That’s the natural order of things — clear the gutters so they stop overflowing, then deal with what the overflow left behind. One visit, one quote.

What does it cost? Every house is different, so it’s a fixed per-job quote. You’ll know the number before I start, and it won’t move afterwards.
